Paper (canoe) Birch(Betula papyrifers bs) Known for its amazing fall golden color this landscape tree grows best in moist soil. It has tremendous winter interest for its beauty and grows to 70 feet. The paper birch is easily recognized for its peeling white bark, which actually did find historical use as a paper substitute. An alternate common name for the tree is canoe birch.
